Greek Chicken Burgers

Updated: Mar 27, 2020

I realized I haven’t posted a non-desi recipe in a while so here we are! I bring you - Greek chicken burgers! These are incredibly easy, tasty and healthy too. There’s not much prep work to these burgers or too many ingredients which brings this meal together in under or around just 30 minutes!

My husband always complains that I make everything spicy so I left spiciness out of this recipe. You can add hot sauce, more chili flakes or even cayenne to the burger mix if you like. I added sriracha on to mine.

You can leave the feta cheese out to make it dairy free. However, I never say no to feta! You can add this burger patty on top of a Greek salad as well if you’re not feelin’ a burger or wanna leave out the extra carbs. Although the spice ingredients are minimal, this burger is still packed with flavor! It’s herby, tangy, lemony and garlicky. It tastes super fresh and is a flavor bomb in your mouth! Can’t wait for you guys to try this one! Don’t forget to tag me @thecurriedcook so I can see your recreations!

Greek Chicken Burgers

Ingredients:

  • 4 burger buns or 8 slider buns

Tzatziki sauce:

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt

  • 1 Persian cucumber, peeled in stripes & shredded**

  • 1.5 tbsp fresh dill, chopped finely

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • Zest of 1/2 lemon

  • 1 tsp garlic, minced

  • 1/4 white pepper (you can use black if you don’t have white)

  • Salt to taste1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

**After you shred the cucumber, squeeze out any excess water.

For the chicken patties:

  • 1 lb ground chicken

  • 1.5 tbsp breadcrumbs

  • 1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • 1 tbsp garlic, minced

  • 1 tbsp dried parsley

  • 3/4 tsp dried oregano

  • 1/2 tsp red chili flakes

  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp salt

Topping options:

Spinach, lettuce or other greens, tomatoes, red onion, cucumbers, kalamata olives

Directions:

Tzatziki sauce:

1. In a mixing bowl, add all the ingredients under “tzatziki sauce” except olive oil and mix well. Once mixed, add olive oil and mix well again. Keep in fridge until ready for serving.

Chicken burgers:

1. Add all the ingredients under “chicken patties” in a bowl and mix thoroughly. Divide into quarters for burgers or into eighths for sliders. Roll into patties and set aside.

2. Heat grill pan on medium heat and add one tsp oil and swirl around pan. Add in chicken burger patty, you can grill as many as your pan will allow without crowding. Grill for 4 minutes and flip while pressing patty down. Grill for another 3-4 minutes, until burger is cooked all the way through. You can make a slit and check as well.

3. Now you can assemble your burger! We like ours with spinach, tomato and red onion. This burger is mild so add some sriracha too if you need some spice!
